Tips On Home Office Designs
If you are thinking about converting a room in your home for you new office here are some simple
tips to make this process of home office design simple and easy.
First I would recommend clearing out the space. Yes, take everything out.
Next you need to figure out exactly what you will want and need in your office to make it as
productive as possible. Desks, chairs, copiers, filing cabinets, plants, décor, and any other equipment you
may need.
One you have your list prepared you need to get the dimensions of everything you want and need in
your office to make sure it fits into your design.
Now that you have the dimensions you can grab some books, magazines or even some sticky notes. Using
the dimension of all the office furniture and equipment you need to start mapping it out on the
floor.
Mark each corner of the desk, filing cabinets etc. With the marks on the floor you will be able to
visualize what your home office design looks like. You can easily move things around until it works for you.
Don’t forget about the closet space if you have it.
Mapping everything out also helps you decide on the size of things you will need. It also helps you
decide on whether you really need certain things or if it is more of a want.
The biggest decisions would be the size of the desk and any other furniture you may want in the
office. The desk is what will use up most of the space. But because there are so many different sizes and
designs of desks to choose from you will be able to make your office design work.
Other things to consider is if there are alternative places for you to put things. For example I
have my drawer filing cabinet slid under my desk. I have a lateral 2 drawer filing cabinet as it does not
stick out from under the desk. I also have two roll around office drawers under the desk as well. My paper
shredder is under there too. If you think about it, that saves a ton of space.
Finally think about shelving. You can put shelves all around you office as well as in the closet.
This may keep you from needing book cases which can also take up quite a bit of room.
I promise that using this office design tip will save you many hours of time, frustration, and help
you create a space that is appealing and conducive to getting your work done.
