Need Some Home Office Ideas?
My wife and I own a 3 bedroom home in which my office was in one of those rooms. When we found out
that my wife was pregnant she decided that my office is where the nursery would be. But instead of moving my
office to the other bedroom we decided to get a little creative.
The reason that we decided not to move the office to the other bedroom was that we were planning on
having another baby. So instead of just moving the office and then having to move it again we came up with
this simple home office idea.
What we decided to do was build an office. The way that we did this was by splitting the garage in
half. We framed in a wall and added a door so we could still get into the other half of the garage with out
needing to open the garage door. We then insulated and sheet rocked it. We also got some duct and cut into
the duct work so that there would be heating and cooling into the office. I bought some remnant office carpet
and laid that down over the concrete.
I now have all the office space I need
and I don’t have to worry about ever moving it again unless we decide to sell the house. I have an 11 foot by 15
foot office space or as my wife refers to it as the man cave. It looks great too.
Some words of caution. You may want to get this permitted or find out if you need a permit. Secondly
if you are not a handy person you will want to hire a contractor to do this for you. I can’t imagine that it
would cost anymore than $1500. You may also need to get a phone line contractor out to add phone lines. TIP:
Do not hire the phone company to do this. They will charge you an arm and a leg.
If you need your own office this is a simple, easy and affordable way to get it. Hopefully you liked
this home office idea and can find a way for it to work for you.
